A Tale of Two Broomwades:
Not much has been written on lighting sets, but showman Tommy Green has produced an in depth interesting article on the replacement of steam powered generators with diesel engined sets. In particular two Gardner engined sets he used with his equipment.
Remarkable Road Accident:
In June 1908 the Burrell engine Reliance belonging to Reuben Holdsworth was proceeding along the road adjacent to Lake Thirlmere when the engine and loads plunged 50ft. into the lake. A detailed report of the accident taken from accounts written at the time, with many photographs.
Carlomans:
The Carloman family were well known at fairs in the Midlands in the late 19th Century. This article follows their fairground career until they ceased travelling in the 1950's. Illustrated with rare family photographs of the equipment and family.
We Love Muffin the Mule:
Muffin the Mule was a puppet who appeared on TV in 1946. For several decades he could be seen on juvenile and adult machines. Stephen Smith relates the story of his fairground career.
